This week, we will begin the process of selecting the final two tickets for President/Vice President of ACS.

You will be listening to speeches and to debates.

Speeches will be posted on this website after they have been given so you can refer to them as you work through your assignments.

After listening to the speeches, write two or three questions you would like to have answered during the debates on notecards and turn in to LouRae

You have been assigned a party (either Republicrat or Demoplican). To find out which party you are in, check under INFORMATION on the class website. During Language Arts, you will listen to the speeches of your candidates.

1. Choose two candidates who you are interested in voting for.

2. Create a venn diagram comparing and contrasting the two candidates.

3. Write a compare/contrast paper analyzing the two candidates. Your conclusion should state who you plan to vote for and why. You should analyze at least four platform points. I am interested in your opinion as well as the opinions of the candidates.

4. For an advanced grade, I am looking for specific details from the speeches to support your reasoning as well as specific personal responses. What experiences have you had to make you agree or disagree with the candidate.

On Wednesday and Thursday you will listen to the candidates from your party debate the questions you have requested. You will need to take notes during the debate.

After the debates write a five paragraph essay about their effect on you, the voter.

1. Did the debates make you feel more or less sure of your candidate. Why or why not?

2. Use specific points from the actual debate to support your reasoning.
