“Fanfiction,” according to Christopher Shamburg in English Language Art Units for Grades 9-12 “refers to the cultural phenomenon in which fans write and share fictional works based on the stories that capture their interests” (Shamburg 49). Scenario : Imagine that Tony Earley published his novel “Jim The Boy” without writing the final chapter. The publishing company received an overwhelming response from his fans to re-publish the novel with the last chapter. Earley told the publishing company that he was “totally over writing novels “ and will only consent to re-publish “Jim the Boy “ as a graphic novel - he was also out of ideas. So, the publishing company sent out a “Call For Comics” to his fans to create the final chapter. Your Task: Create, using Pixton’s comic creating website (link on the left), the last chapter of “Jim the Boy.” Subscribe to this page and create your own page. Your page will contain a link to your comic strip and a brief explanation of your comic. After creating your comic strip, visit your classmates’ pages and comment on their comic strips. Give them positive, constructive feedback as if you were working for the publishing company. |
