Students do you want to run your own business and make money !

How about selling Lemonade? In this lesson you will set up a virtual lemonade stand.

Each of you will start the game with $20 USD. Each day, you must decide how many cups of lemonade to prepare, select the ingredients, and decide how much money to charge for each cup.
You will have to base your decisions on production costs and the weather forecast (which sometimes is inaccurate). The game simulates customer behavior. You will record your decisions and outcomes in a Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet. After 30 days, of running the Lemonade Stall we will find out who has made a profit.

1. Student Directions for Making Money from Lemons
2. Open Internet Explorer and go to the website:http://www.coolmath-games.com/lemonade/
3. Open your Excel data sheet ( Right click and save in your folder from my website) for recording your information.

4. Record all the decisions you are making in your excel sheet. Also record your results.
5. Run your stand and record your data for 30 days.
6. After the 30th day, click on the “Bankrupt!” button to see your final results. Did you make a profit?
7. In your spreadsheet, put in the proper formulas to get the totals, averages etc.

8. Save your Excel data sheet and open up a Microsoft Word document. Write the answers to the following questions:
a. How did you do? Do you think your lemonade stand was successful?
b. What did you learn from playing the game?
c. Looking over your data, do you see any patterns?
d. What advice would you give someone who wants to be successful at playing the game?

9. Choose 1 of the following Graphs to make (in excel)

• Graph 1: Total Cups Sold:
Create a Line Chart of the total cups sold each day. Use the Day (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) as the Category X Axis Labels. Don't forget to include a chart title and axis titles. Do Not include a legend.

Graph 2: High Temperature:
Create a Line Chart of the High Temperature eachd ay. Use the Day (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) as the Category X Axis Labels. Don't forget to include a chart title and axis titles. Do Not include a legend.

Graph 3: End of Day $
Create a Line Chart of the End of Day Money. Use the Day (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) as the Category X Axis Labels. Don't forget to include a chart title and axis Labels. Do Not include a legend.

10. In excel, Create an income statement…use the example below to look at for help:

* You must use formulas to do the math*

Jason's Lemonade Stand
Income Statement
February 28, 2000

Revenue: ( the 30th end of the day amount)

Expense: ( subtract your 30th end of day total from your Gross profit total)

Total Cups sold:

Net Profit : (you already have this on your spreadsheet, so just plug it in here) It's your end of day total for the 30th day minus $20.00.

Create a POWER POINT presentation and present it to class.
You need a minimum of 12 slides that tell about your experience running your lemonade stand. You must include a graph of your choice on 1 slide and pictures on every slide. Your 12th slide must be a summary of your project.
You must include your end of the season results

You must include at least one of the graphs.

All slides must have animation/transition

All slides must have pictures (except the slides with graphs)

Some topics you might want to include: How did you do? Do you think your lemonade stand was very successfull. What did you learn from playing the game? Looking over your data, do you see any patterns? What happened on your worst day? What happened on your best day? What advice would you give to someone who wants to be successfull at playing the game.
