Drama--a story written to be performed onstage or in a movie by actors.
Dramas are divided into major sections called ACTS.
These acts are then further divided into smaller sections called SCENES.
Dialogue--the words spoken by actors.
Stage Directions--these tell how the actors should look, move, and speak. They also describe the setting and desired effects of sound and lighting. On the page, these are usually printed within brackets [ ] or parentheses ( ). They may also be written in italics. When reading a drama aloud, only the dialogue is read.
Script--the script is a written copy of the dialogue and stage directions for a drama. The script is used by the actors and directors during rehearsal. During performance, actors work without the script. In your literature book, you will be reading a script of The Diary of Anne Frank.
