Central Idea: Government decisions affect the economy. An inquiry into: * Types of government * National and local government * Basic business practices * The manner in which the government affects the economy Some of our favorite activities during this unit included: * our field trip to BizTown * learning how to write checks and balance checkbooks * adapting a traditional Thai/Burmese story about a king * learning about different types of government * running the school-wide election on Election Day For their final project, students wrote a 5-paragraph essay outlining changes they would make if they were president, as well as how and why they would make those changes. They had lots of terrific ideas! Hmmm...perhaps the future president of the United States will be a LILA alum! |
