½ c. granulated sugar ½ c. brown sugar, packed 1/3 c. margarine or butter, softened 1/3 c. shortening 1 egg 1 t. vanilla 1 ½ c. all-purpose flour ½ t. b.s. ½ t. salt ½ c. chopped nuts, opt 1 pkg. (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips Preheat oven to 375°. Mix sugars, margarine, shortening until creamy. Add egg and vanilla, mix well. Stir in dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until lightly brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Makes abour 3 ½ doz. NOTE: This is an easy recipe to double for more cookies. |
