I – Google Scavenger Hunt
II – Google Advanced Search Quiz
III – Website Evaluation Worksheet
IV – Website Review Presentation
V - Website Review E Sheet
VI – EasyBib Reference Worksheet
VII – Disease Research Worksheet
VIII – Disease PowerPoint and Presentation

I. Google Scavenger Hunt – After Mr. Ryser gives you a tutorial on how to properly search Google using the Advanced Google Search, you will complete the Google Scavenger Hunt. The Scavenger Hunt will be used as a review on how to properly narrow your searches on Google using the 4NETS for Better Searching Techniques (Narrowing, Exact phrases, Trimming, Similar page searching). When finished with the Scavenger Hunt, you will show it to Mr. Ryser. Any incorrect information will be marked and you must research for correct answers with your Google search techniques. Once the worksheet is correctly completed you will receive a completed check mark in grade book.

II. Google Advanced Search Quiz – This quiz will be used to assess your knowledge of Google searches. The quiz will be taken and graded in class and your grade will be recorded in the grade book.

III. Website Evaluation Worksheet – Each student will be assigned one of the Disease Research Websites found in the Hot List links. You will be asked to search the website and report on what type of information can be found in the website. Your information will be used to present the website to the rest of the class. When finished with the Website Evaluation Worksheet, you will show it to Mr. Ryser. Any incorrect information will be marked and you must research for correct answers within your assigned link. Once the worksheet is correctly completed you will receive a completed check mark in the grade book.

IV. Website Review Presentation – You will be giving a three minute minimum presentation about the assigned website you received in the Website Evaluation Worksheet assignment. You will be instructing the class on how to navigate the website along with telling them what kind of information they can find within the website. Presentations will be graded using the Rubric attached to the Unit Home Page. A grade will not be recorded in the grade book as we are using this assignment as a practice to prepare for the Disease Presentation you will do at the end of the unit. All advanced or proficient presentations will receive a completed check mark in the grade book. Beginning or progressing presentations will be redone to a proficient level in order to receive a completed check mark in the grade book.

V. Website Review E Sheet – This E sheet will be used to review how to search some of the websites presented to you during the website presentations. When finished with the Disease Website Review E Sheet, you will show it to Mr. Ryser. Any incorrect information will be marked and you must revisit the link for the correct answers. Once the worksheet is correctly completed you will receive a completed check mark in the grade book.

VI. EasyBib Reference Worksheet – Mr. Ryser will give a tutorial on how to properly reference information into a bibliography using the website www.easybib.com. You will be asked to make references for 5 different links given in the worksheet. When finished with the Easybib Reference Worksheet, you will show it to Mr. Ryser. Any incorrect information will be marked and you must redo the reference correctly. Once the worksheet is correctly completed you will receive a completed check mark in the grade book.

VII. Disease Research Worksheet – You will be choosing a human body disease to research using the Hot Links websites or Google searching techniques you learned. Information about names, causes, symptoms, treatments, and history of the disease will be found. It will be your job to research and answer all of the questions provided in the worksheet. Easybib references must be made and copied to the worksheet for each website you use information from. All information will be used to make a PowerPoint presentation that will be presented to the class. When finished with the Disease Research Worksheet, you will show it to Mr. Ryser. Any incorrect information will be marked and you must redo the research to make it correct. Once the worksheet is correctly completed you will receive a completed check mark in the grade book.

VIII. Disease PowerPoint and Presentation – You will be taking the information from the Disease Research Worksheet and making a PowerPoint Presentation. The presentation must have a minimum of 10 slides with at least 7 of the slides having pictures that relate to the information on the slides. The PowerPoint must include a reference slide showing all of the references you received information from (these should be the same references from the Disease Research Worksheet). All information in the PowerPoint must be written in at least 32 font and be easily readable from the back of the classroom. All information that was answered in the Disease Research Worksheet must be presented in the PowerPoint presentation. The PowerPoint Presentation should be a summary of the information and not a word for word script for you. You will be expected to explain information that is not written word for word in the PowerPoint. When you are finished with the PowerPoint you will show it to Mr. Ryser. If all the information is correct and complete, he will print out a handout form of the presentation for you. You will be able to write yourself notes on the handout to assist you during your presentation. If you get finished before the rest of your classmates, you may pair up with others to practice your presentation. Presentations will be graded using the Rubric attached to the Unit Home Page. A grade will be recorded in the grade book.
