Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader. Not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon.
- E.L. Doctorow

Hello parents and students!

This has been a great two weeks in my 1st period Language Arts class, and my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th & 7th period Creative Writing classes. Your children work so hard at finding solutions and are so imaginative with their products. I have enjoyed them immensely!

In Language Arts we have reviewed all categories of nouns and pronouns; we have reviewed our first unit of vocabulary words and spelling words; and we have completed all of the supporting practice for mastery in these areas. We have a test next week on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 on pronouns; and there is a spelling/vocabulary test on Tuesday, Aug. 25th.

In Creative Writing we have worked on problem solving and editing skills by creating Nanofiction stories, a pangram and a pallindrome. Next week we begin our pronoun poem and author travel brochure. (Note: all work for Creative Writing is accomplished IN CLASS unless otherwise notified. There should only be 2 projects all semester that will require any outside time.)

If you need to contact me, my school email is mortonvictoriam@mcsk12.net. I look forward to hearing from you.
