Dear Eight Graders, You may think that this year is a year to play around, not care if you fail any of your classes, not do your homework, not pay attention in class, but if you don't start paying attention right now then you will not do good at all next year. Math is the main thing you need to be concerned about. I was going to take Honors Math this year, but I ended up only taking Math 1 (which is a normal math class) and I'm so glad I didn't take Honors. Everything goes really fast and you are doing something new everyday. They don't have time to go back and teach anything you were supposed to learn in eight grade because they have so much to teach. That means if you don't pay attention this year then you won't be able to keep up next year. You also have a lot more homework, so you need to get use to doing homework this year. I have homework everyday, even on Friday. You still might not think it is going to be hard, but trust me, it is a lot harder than middle school. I like high school because you have so much more freedom, but that means you have to be responsible and keep up with all of your things yourself. The teachers don't baby you at all. I don't want you to be scared to go to high school next year, I just want you to be prepared. I had an A in math all year and I still don't think I could do Honors Math. So, at the end of the year when you get to pick your classes and you want to take Honors, you might want to think about it a little bit. I promise, it is not as easy as you think it is going to be. If your teacher does not recommend you for Honors then I wouldn't do it if I were you. I would start out with a normal Math 1 class. There are so many people that switched to Math Support because a normal Math class was too hard for them. So, start paying attention now! (: Good Luck & Have A Good Year! (: |
