The hill of Motjuïc is Barcelona’s biggest recreation area. Its museums, art galleries, gardens and other facilities make it a popular place in the evening as well as during the day. Most of the buildings were erected as the site of 1929 International Fair on the north side of the hill, along the grand Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, leading into it from the Plaça d’Espanya.
