Overview: Today you will be introduced to the Broward Enterprise Education Portal (BEEP). First we should answer a few questions. What is a Portal? “A portal is a central place for making all types of information accessible to an audience of varying range. Portals can be roughly broken down into two major classifications: the enterprise information portal and the content management portal.”(What is a Portal, Web) What is an Enterprise information portal? “Enterprise information portals are primarily intended to consolidate a vast array of information from a multitude of sources onto a single screen. The users of this information typically do not publish to this type of portal; rather, they are the consumers of the information prepared and published by others.” (What is a Portal, Web) So what is BEEP? BEEP is a page of links that provide and consolidate tools to help you succeed in the classroom. These tools include lesson plans, program tutorials, online text books and many more tools that you can explore. Today we will introduce you to a few of the tools that will help you succeed in your classroom through this scavenger hunt. On the left side of this page I have some links match the links with the task and then use the information you find to answer the questions. In order to succeed you must complete item one. Good Luck 1) Find the link to the BEEP Portal. Once you find the link you must sign into BEEP. To sign in to you will use your personnel number preceded by a P and use all the leading zero’s to have a total of eight numbers. The password is your personnel number without the P, providing you didn’t change it at some earlier time. How many links are on the portals main page? 2) Find a tutorial. What program was the tutorial about? What did it teach you? 3) Find virtual counselor link? Why do you need to use BEEP to access virtual counselor from home? |
