DORSET WORLD HERITAGE

Let me introduce you to the South West of England. Many villages, towns and cities there are World Heritage Places and we will explore them and analyse them such as The Jurassic Coast, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Dorchester.
Here is a set of activities to be done before we actually travel there:

DORSET, THE COUNTY
Where is Dorset?
What is the capital?
What is the county’s motto?
How many people live there?
Why is Dorset famous for?
Which colours and patterns can you find in the flag?
What famous writer is related to the county?

TWO WORLD HERITAGE SPOTS:
DURDLE DOOR AND LULWORTH COVE
What is Durdle Door?
Why are experts worried about the future of the Door?
What music videos have been filmed there?
Which movies include scenes of Durdle Door?
How far is Durdle Door from Lulworth Cove?
How many visitors does the Cove receive a year?
When was the Cove granted World Heritage Status by the UNESCO?

THE JURASSIC COAST: FOSSIL HUNTING
Where can you go fossil hunting (name the most important world heritage coasts)?
How long ago did the story of the Dorset Coast begin?
What was the Coast like in the Triassic Period?
What happened in the Jurassic Period?
What kind of life (animals and plants) can we find in the Jurassic Period?
What about the Cretaceous Period?

KING TUT EXHIBITION
What can you explore at the Tutankhamon Exhibition?
Where exactly is located the museum?
Why is this exhibition so important?
Who is Tutankhamon?
Who discovered his tomb?
What kind of information did tests from Tut’s DNA reveal?
How many different types of things can you buy in the Egypitian shop?

FINAL TASK:
Choose one of this World Heritage places and design a brochure that shows a particular activity that can be carried out in these places for tourists visiting the area and which explains the importance of the place chosen so that people understand why they hold a World Heritage Status.
