Accelerated Reader Program

I am pleased to announce that all of my students are now in the Accelerated Reader Program.

Each student will check out a book on his/her level from the library and will read the book at least three times. Students will then come to class and take an AR test on the computer. The test consists of five to ten questions about the book.

If your child is going to be successful, I need your help at home. I am asking that when your child brings a book home that you have your child read the book at least three times. Then ask your child who, what, where, how, when, and why questions. When your child comes to school, I will allow him/her to take the test on that book if he/she has the book and has read at least three times.

I know that you are very busy, but please do not rush through the reading. If it takes you three days to have your child read the book three times and ask questions, then it takes you three days. I would rather your child read one book in three days and score 100% on the test, than read a book overnight and score 40%.

I am very excited that all of my students are in the Accelerated Reader Program. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank You!
Mrs. Waters
