WEB 2.0: BLOGS & REAL-WORLD COMMUNICATION
  Enabling Interactive and Collaborative Engagements

Communication through e-mail, chats and discussion boards have now evolved into wikis, blogs and podcasting, what we call Web 2.0 generation : telecommunicating and telecollaborating. This has proved to be very beneficial for both teachers and students in different ways:

- open new ways for global communication and development of
intercultural awareness.

- creating blogs promotes ownership of work and encourages exchange of ideas.

- can be easily created and then published instantly on the Internet.

- empower students to express their own opinions and increases their interest in reading and writing.

- enable learners to reflect both on content and language as they write and read at their own pace.

- provide potential for collaborative writing through a shared task, as learners assist each other .

- they gain confidence in writing and develop their own approaches that suit their personal writing styles.
