A TRIP TO LONDON

Day Six: Our Last Day

On our last full day in London we wanted to see the Rosetta Stone.
WHAT MUSEUM DID WE GO TO?
IN WHAT AREA OF LONDON IS IT?
WHAT OTHER IMPORTANT ITEMS ARE THERE IN THE EGYPTIAN COLLECTION IN THIS MUSEUM?

We could also see a collection of marble sculptures that were taken from the Parthenon in Athens.
WHAT ARE THEY CALLED?

After so much culture, we felt like going shopping and we took the underground to Covent Garden. In the Middle Ages it was a vegetable field that supplied food for the monks of a nearby convent, and was known as Convent Garden, but in 1540 King Henry VIII confiscated the lands of the monasteries and John Baron Russell, the first Earl of Bedford, became the new owner.
WHAT ARCHITECT DEVELOPED THE AREA INTO A LUXURY NEIGHBOURHOOD ABOUT A CENTURY LATER?
WHAT WAS COVENT GARDEN FROM THE 1600S UNTIL 1974?
WHAT IS IT KNOWN FOR NOWADAYS?
WHAT MUSEUMS ARE THERE AT THE FORMER FLOWER MARKET?

We were in the theatre district, so we decided to say good-bye to London by watching a musicals – it was the perfect farewell! Next day we would be flying back to Birmingham, but we would never forget out visit to the capital of the UK. I’ll go back as soon as I can – there are so many more things to see and do!
