Things to Know about Space Time and Energy:

Movements that communicate an idea or message nonverbally

-What are the different levels used in dance?
High middle and low

-What is symmetry and asymmetry?
Symmetry is when an image is the same on both sides when divided in half and asymmetry occurs when an image is different on both sides when divided in half

- What is positive and negative space?
Positive space is the space a dancer's body takes up; negative space is the empty or open space

- Where are downstage and upstage?
Downstage is at the front of the stage (near the audience) and upstage is located in the back of the stage (away from the audience)

-Where are the wings located?
On the sides of the stage where the curtains are located

- Where can you create pathways in dance?
On the ground or in the air

-What is the tempo? Half time? Double time? What element category does this fall under?
Tempo is the underlying beat of the music or movement. Half time is when the music or movement is twice as slow as its original speed. Double time is when the movement or music is twice as fast as its original speed. These concepts fall under the element of Time.

-What is an accent?
An emphasis on a particular movement that is usually strong and sharp

-What are the six different energy qualities used in dance?
Suspend, sustained, collapse, percussive, swing, and vibratory
