Welcome Back to school dancers! What is Dance Company? Dance Company is an after school dance group that meets once a week on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00 all year long. Students learn dance pieces that are then performed throughout the year at school events and at the end of semester Dance Concerts. This group focuses on the performance aspect of dance. How can I become a part of Dance Company? In order to participate in Dance Company, students will need to attend an audition. Auditions for the 2018-2019 Dance Company group will take place after school on Wednesday, August 29th and Thursday, August 30th from 3:30-5:00. During the first day, students will practice general skills and learn a dance combination. On Thursday, they will perform the combination in small groups and be assessed on their abilities. Students will need to wear comfortable clothes they can move in. They do not need to prepare any choreography ahead of time. Who can try out for Dance Company? Any 6th-8th WMMS student can try out for Dance Company. It is most beneficial if students have had at least one year prior dance experience (within the last few years) before trying out, but this is not required. How will I know if I have been accepted into Dance Company? Audition results will be posted outside of the Multipurpose/Dance Classroom door on Friday morning August 31st. Our first scheduled rehearsal will be the following Wednesday, September 5th. We will also have a brief parent meeting/information session after this rehearsal at 5:00.
