When pyramids are mentioned, most people think of the Great Pyramids in Egypt. However, pyramids take on a variety of shapes, but all of them have some features in common. Every pyramid has: · A polygon base (i.e. triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon) · A single point (Apex) for a top · Triangles for every side Surface Area: When all sides are the same, Area = [Base Area] + 1/2 × Perimeter × [Slant Height] When the sides are not the same, Area = [Base Area] + [Lateral Area] Volume: V=1/3 × [Base Area] × Height |
