Journal #1- If you could make up your own warm up, what would you include? Why? Why is it important to warm up? (Answer in 4-5 complete sentences)

Journal #2- Why is it important to remember your alignment when dancing? (Think about times when you use your “rubber bands” or the “string out of the top of your head” images). How does alignment help you perform movements? How does this relate to using your core muscles? (Answer in 4-5 complete sentences)

Journal #3- What do you think is the most important ability to have as a dancer? Flexibility? Strength? Precision? Turn out? Something else? Explain why you think it is the most important aspect. (Answer in 4-5 complete sentences)

Journal #4- Why is it important to use the elements of space (formations, pathways, mirroring, directions, etc)? How can this make a dance look more interesting? How will the way you use the element of space change depending on the number of dancers you have in a dance? How does this affect what the audience sees? (Answer in 4-5 complete sentences)

Journal #5- What is your favorite music to choreograph to? Why? What would it be like to choreograph a dance to different music (such as classical or blues)? (Answer in 4-5 complete sentences)

Journal #6- If you had to create just one dance over the course of your life to represent you, what would that dance be about? Why would you create a dance about that particular idea/topic and what would the dance look like? What would the music sound like? What would the costumes look like? What would be the mood of that dance? (4-5 complete sentences)

Journal #7- What do you think it would be like to be a professional choreographer? What challenges do you think you would face? What would be fun or exciting about being a professional choreographer? Would you consider this as a potential future career? (Answer in 4-5 complete sentences)

Journal #8- Choose one of the following movements we have done in class: Battement, Plié, Chaîné, Prance, or Chassé. Using as much detail as possible, describe one of these movements to someone else who has never had any dance classes before. Make sure to include things that are important to remember as you perform the movement.

Journal #9- Why is it important to reflect on our work in dance? How can reflection help us to become better dancers? What tools can we use to help us reflect on our work? Should you ever consider a dance completely finished/perfected? (Answer in 4-5 complete sentences)
