The characteristics of animals.

Animals are multicellular organisms. They are consumers. This means they feed on other living things. Their cells group together as tissues which form organs and systems.

The nutrition function in animals

There are four processes:
• The taking and digesting of food.
• The taking of oxygen.
• The distribution of substances.
• The excretion of residues

For digestion most animals have a digestive systems.
The simplest is a digestive cavity. Most have a digestive tract. They have different organs, like the stomach and the intestines.

The interaction function in animals
Animals have sense organs, or receptors, which detect stimuli.
Animals have a nervous system which processes information from the receptors, elaborates a response and sends instructions to the effectors.
The effectors execute the instructions of the nervous system.

Activities:

1.- Name some receptors in our body.
2.- Name the four processes of the nutrition function in animals.
3.- Draw a neuron and label its different parts.
