Please remember to listen to your child read 1 step each night and have your child's log signed by a parent/guardian. 2 steps are required over the weekend. Each step is 15 minutes.

As your child reads, encourage him/her to use the following reading strategies.

*Predict/Infer: What do you think will happen next?
*Question: Ask questions about the story that will be answered as you read.
*Monitor/Clarify: Make sure you understand what is happening in the story. If you don't understand, stop and reread.
* Evaluate: Did you like the story? Did the author do a good job?

Homework Tips:
-Provide a quiet place to do homework.

-An adult should check over the child's work.

-After reading, your first grader should tell an adult about the books read.

-Have your child place the completed home work in "bring back" side of the red folder and put it right back into his/her book bag, ready for the next day of school.
