Scientific progress has allowed our species unique access to the history of our planet. We've learned that the Earth has looked like a very different place at different times in its history. Different life forms thrived at those variable times. Our species is well adapted to Earth's current climate. Therefore, it is in our best interest to minimize global climate disruption. Gaining a good understanding about these ideas is the first step.
