Choose an endangered species from Georgia. The following information is required to be included in the poster for the organism chosen: • Species common name and scientific name for each • Surviving number of the organism in the wild (example: Florida Panther- estimated to be 100 individuals remaining in the wild)- do NOT include those in zoos, etc. • Ecological Niche the organism occupies (habitat, place in the food web (producer or consumer), what it eats if an animal, what eats it if anything) • Why is it endangered? What is the cause? What is its overall ecological and/or economic importance? Is it considered a “Keystone Species”? • Should steps be taken to save the organism from extinction? If so, why is it worth saving? • What has been done, if anything, to protect the species from extinction? • What additional measures could be taken to prevent the species becoming extinct? Include at least 3 pictures! |
