The Phoenix area needs more water than Salt River Project can provide. CAP supplies water to the Phoenix area as well.
1. Copy/Paste these coordinates into Google maps (Link)  34.287433, -114.103993 to see the CAP aqueduct near Parker.  Pan out and follow the canal through the desert.  See if you can find some of the 15 pumping stations.
Q1: What are 2 ways that water will be lost to the system during this 336 mile journey?

2. Access U.S. Census Data Link and review population changes in population over the past several years (focus on Arizona).   
Access US and World Population Clock.
Q2:  What is the birth rate?  Death rate?  Migration rate?

3. Previously we saw that one acre-foot of water (over 300,000 gallons) was enough to serve two families of four for one year. SRP and CRP water services Maricopa, Pinal, and Pima counties.  Access this Census 2010 data website and scroll down to the interactive map of the United States; click on and take note of the population in various Arizona counties. Refer to the legend and review the maps meaning.
