The time between 1400 and 1650 was a period of awakening to new ideas. It included the Age of Discovery, the Reformation and the time of Shakespeare, known as Elizabethan England. In Italy great changes occurred in art, sculpture and architecture, and these spread throughout western Europe. Changes banking, commerce and government power structures set the foundations for our modern world. |
