Caused by aggression from Germany, Italy and Japan, this was the second great war of the Twentieth Century, and the most destructive of all time. None of the Allied nations of France, Great Britain, The Soviet Union and the United States were ready when war came to each of them. Although the Allied Powers were the eventual victors, the effects of World War II have continued to shape world events ever since. |
