5. Overview of Science at Our School, below:

Science is in every classroom.

Our emphasis is on hands-on, minds-on activities that give the students real-life learning experiences, promote critical thinking, and develop a sense-of-place.

Middle School (6-8):

Students study Earth Science during 6th grade, Life Science in 7th, and Physical Science in 8th. Our mission is to prepare students to be informed and active citizens and to prepare them for high school science by teaching the California standards and more. They receive instruction 5 days each week. Hands-on labs occur once or more each week. See link for homework for specific details of this week.

Elementary (K-5):

Science is taught and integrated into the curriculum by the classroom teacher. In addition, students come with their teacher to the Science Lab once a week, where they experience hands-on labs related to their curriculum with the science teacher. Further labs may also be taught in the classroom. * Please go to our school web page and refer to the elementary classroom teacher’s pages for specifics at each of the lower grades.

Preschool (3 and 4 year olds):

With the science teacher, their teacher leads hands-on activities to students in their own classroom once each week. Additional activities continue with the classroom teacher throughout the week.
