Calpurnia was Caesar’s third wife and also a woman of wealth and excellent political connections. Married in 59 B.C.E., Calpurnia spent most of her marriage to Caesar alone because he was in Gaul earning a great reputation as a commander. Calpurnia survived Caesar and probably asked Antony to give the funeral oration over Caesar’s body in the Forum.
