RECONSTRUCTION
 

 







The period directly after the Civil War is known as Reconstruction. During this time, Slavery is abolished, African Americans become citizens and are given the vote. For all the advancements that are made during Reconstruction, a harsh reality sets in as it ends. Jim Crow Laws and forced segregation become law in many states, and it takes another hundred years for African Americans to regain their civil rights.
