The West

Our country was growing. Promises of riches and free land brought pioneers to the West. Ranching and farming, mining and railroads all played a part in this period of American history. Boom towns sprung up seemingly overnight, and just as quickly turned to ghost towns.

More and more, settlers and government clashed with Native Americans who saw their land and their ways of life slipping away. Buffalo were hunted, nearly to extinction, and eventually, Indians were forced onto reservations.
