EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION TO THE SICK: HOMEBOUND/SR COMPLEXES

St. Therese serves those Catholics who are either homebound or living in unassisted senior complexes, or in long-term care facilities. Trained Communion ministers bring prayer, presence and/or the Eucharist to them, as coordinated and directed by the Pastoral Care staff.

HOMEBOUND:

Parishioners who are confined on a short or long-term basis may receive Communion from a lay minister who will visit them in their homes. If you or a loved one is recuperating from an illness, or struggling with a condition that prevents attending Mass, please inform us of that situation so that we can arrange for a minister to visit.

SENIOR COMPLEXES: Seniors living at the following complexes are currently meeting once a week with volunteer lay ministers for prayer and the Eucharist:

Garden Village: Wednesdays AM

The Gardens: Fridays

Kendallwood Hills: Alternate Thursdays

Tremont Place: Wednesdays AM

Wexford Place: Thursdays AM

Please keep us informed of Catholics in these facilities who would like to participate in the prayer services and/or receive Communion.

We are always in need of Communion ministers who are willing to serve those members of our community who are unable to join us in our weekend liturgies. Help is needed both on weekends and during the week. Ministers can choose what type of setting is best for them, and how often they wish to serve. Yearly formation and gathering with other pastoral care ministers in the community is expected.

Please contact Ginny in the Pastoral Care Office (816-741-2800, ext. 218) for more information about this ministry.
