ABOUT MRS. BROWN

SOCIAL STUDIES SIX

Zoe, the Fairy Princess, and L'il Momo, King of the Dwarven Lords

HI. Let me tell you a few things about myself. I've been teaching for more than 35 years, mostly in Metuchen. I have taught grades 4,5,6,7 and 8, and have taught in Franklin, Moss, Campbell and Edgar Schools.

For many years I was a language arts teacher. That means that spelling and grammar are still important to me even though I teach social studies. You might want to keep that in mind!

In case you haven't heard, I LOVE SOCIAL STUDIES! I really do! Hopefully, by the end of our year together you will too (or at least you'll learn to like it a lot).

Because of my love of history, I have traveled around the world to learn more about it. I studied archaeology at the University of Tel Aviv in Israel, and have even worked on digs there. I have also gone to Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania, Africa, where Louis and Mary Leaky found the remains of some of the earliest humans.

My house and my classroom are filled with antiques, mostly from the 19th and early 20th century, and I will be sharing them with you throughout the year. I honestly believe touching a part of history makes it come alive for students so you will have the opportunity for many "hands on" experiences.

On a more personal note, I live in Hillsborough with my husband (Mr.) and a very large dog (L'il Momo,KIng of the Dwarven Lords). I have a daughter (Rachel) who lives in New Orleans.
