Mrs. Youth's 8th Grade Langue Arts Class

Team Rules:

1. Be in class and in your seat on time.

2. Follow directions the first time given.

3. Bring all books and materials to class.

4. No Class Disruptions: o Raise hand and wait for permission to speak. o Stay in seat unless you have permission to do otherwise. o Don’t bother other students. o No personal grooming in class.

5. NO GUM or FOOD.

6. Keep heads off desk.

7. No electronics (cell phones, mp3, etc…should remain at home or in locker).

Absence – It will be your responsibility to get your missed assignments and turn in any missed work. You will find your missed assignments in the binder marked “Absent Notebook” located on the counter in front of the window. Handouts will be in the tray on the counter. Once you have completed the work, turn it in as soon as possible. It is your responsibility to get the make-up work to me.

Warm-ups – You will be expected to complete a warm-up every day when class begins in your 1-subject spiral notebook. This means you must bring it with you to class everyday! Your assignment for the journal will be posted on the board/overhead. These will be graded at the end of each week and they may be checked randomly before that time. Your responses must be dated. If you are absent for a warm-up: as soon as you return, write the date you were absent in your warm-up section, along with reason. You do not have to make up the activity.

Notebook – You may keep one binder just for Language Arts, or combine with other classes - whatever works best for you. The following are some suggestions for how you may organize your notebook: 1) HW/CW (for all Classwork or Homework), 2) Tests/Quizzes, 3) Notes, 4) Writing, 5) Help (for helpful handouts).
