Expository Speech:
How To . . .


You will give a speech on “how to” do something.
You will be scored on your ideas and content,
organization, language, and delivery.
You should have a visual aid such as a picture or diagram.


Homework Schedule for Monday, May 21 to Thursday, May 24


Monday - choose a topic with your family. Write the topic below, get a parent signature and bring this back to school on Tuesday. (You will get it back on Tuesday afternoon.)

Tuesday - Library Day: If you need books and materials to help you with your topic, this is the day to get those checked out! Homework tonight is to outline your speech using the basic ideas you want to cover.

Wednesday - Add the details to your speech. Begin planning your poster, demonstration, and/or model.

Thursday - Practice your speech several times. Work on your poster, demonstration, and/or model.

Be sure to practice at home several times so you feel comfortable with your speech. Remember these tips: Use a loud and clear voice, be enthusiastic about your subject, look at the audience, use expression and know your subject.

Keep it simple! Here are some ideas:

How to do a simple stretch, dance step, or exercise
How to putt a golf ball
How to make a paper airplane, or other origami project
How to plant a flower
How to make an easy, no-bake snack

Remember to have fun and keep it simple!

Every night:

Read aloud for fluency (20 minutes)

Study and memorize basic multiplication facts

Practice weekly spelling list

Write a list of what you did for homework on a piece of paper.
Have an adult initial that you did your homework.
Bring it back to school tomorrow for the daily drawing!
