Earth Day Morning Announcements
Student Council members visited each classroom at Milwaukie elementary for five mornings leading up to Earth Day. The students shared helpful tidbits of information on recycling. For example, "There are many things we can do to help reduce air pollution and global warming. Walking and cycling whenever we can will cut down on the amount of pollution produced in the air."

Pledge to the Planet
Student Council presented their 'Pledge to the Planet' at Milwaukie Elementary's May 18, 2007 Respect Assembly. The Pledge Reads:

More often I'll use by bicycle,
I'll reduce, reuse, and recycle,
When I leave the room, I'll turn off the light,
And I'll know what I did was totally right!
I pledge today and I pledge tomorrow,
To keep the Earth clean and out of sorrow!

Milk Carton Recycling
Student Council arranged to have the student body at Milwaukie Elementary School begin recycling milk cartons. The new system began in May and will resume with the opening of the '07-'08 school year! Students are excited to reduce school lunch waste. Special thanks goes to Head Custodian, Terry Lamb, for helping Student Council!
