Expectations and Grading

 

Candidate Profiles

Each student will be required to profile a Connecticut political candidate on the date assigned. The assignment includes a visual, poster sized profile and an oral overview of the candidate. Grades will be based on the criteria below:

A – Fully meets all expectations listed below.
1. Clearly and prominently identifies candidate, party identification and office he/she is running for.
2. Includes an image
3. Contains a relevant biographical sketch
4. Accurately addresses the candidate’s position on 5 specific topic
5. Is visually “user friendly.” Well organized, clean and visually appealing.
B –
1. Clearly and prominently identifies candidate, party identification and office he/she is running for.
2. Includes an image
3. Contains a relevant biographical sketch
4. Addresses the candidate’s position on 5 specific topics, though may misrepresent one.
5. Is visually “user friendly.” Well organized, clean and visually appealing.
C –
1. Clearly and prominently identifies candidate, party identification and office he/she is running for.
2. Includes an image
3. Contains a relevant biographical sketch
4. Addresses the candidate’s position on a majority of the 5 specific topics
5. Is visually “user friendly” though may reflect less effort on producing a clean, visually appealing poster.
D – May fall short on any three of the following
1. May not clearly identify the candidate, party identification and office (s)he is running for.
2. Does not include an image
3. Does not include a relevant biographical sketch
4. Does not address the candidate’s position on a majority of the 5 specific topics
5. Is not visually “user friendly” and may reflect less effort on producing a clean, visually appealing poster
F – May fall short on any four of the following
1. May not clearly identify the candidate, party identification and office (s)he is running for.
2. Does not include an image
3. Does not include a relevant biographical sketch
4. Does not address the candidate’s position on a majority of the 5 specific topics
5. Is not visually “user friendly” and may reflect less effort on producing a clean, visually appealing poster
