What is my child learning?
This year we will learn about topics including but not limited to:
· The Nature of Science (involving lab safety, equipment, and metric concepts)
· Force and Motion
· Simple Machines
· The Human Body
· Heredity and Genetics
· Weather and Atmosphere

How will my child be graded?
The point system is used to calculate student grades. Point values vary depending on the type of assignment. For example, an in-class assignment might be worth twenty points and a quiz might be worth fifty points. To average grades, students should add up their total points earned and divide by the total number of points possible.

What are the rules and expectations in the classroom?
In addition to Wake County guidelines, the rules in my classroom are as follows:
· Follow directions the first time they are given.
· Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.
· Stay in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise.
· Respect this classroom and everyone in it.
Consequences for choosing not to follow the rules include:
· Warning & Redirection
· One-on-One Conference, with Behavior Reflection
· Lunch and/or after-school detention
· Team Time Out
· Referral to administrator
