Antonia Elementary Science Project

Selecting and Completing a Quality Project

Required for Grade 5

This manual is intended to lead you through the Science Fair process step by step. It is very important to remember that this is not a project that can be put together over night or at the last minute.

If you follow your Science Fair Due Dates, there will be no problem with getting it completed. Failure to meet the due date will result in grade penalties. The timeline link on this page will help keep you on track. You can also go to http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=123232

As you go through the process, you are working toward an end product: an organized science fair board that leads us step by step in your process and a logbook with tabs.

The work posted on your board needs to be typed and checked for both spelling and grammar. You will compile your logbook as you work on your project keeping a record daily. Use a memory stick (Flash drive) and label it with your name. Please make certain that all of your Science Fair information is saved to this disk so that you can use it at home and at school. We use Microsoft Word at school. If you don’t have a computer at home, during extra time in class you may use the computers in your classroom or in the library.

You will also be creating headings and information for your backboard. We recommend that you purchase your board early so that you can temporarily lay out your board as you proceed.

Boards may be purchased from your teacher for $7.00.

The color choices are chosen for you by grade level.

You would not want to find out at the end that there is not enough room on your board for all of your information. This can be avoided by planning ahead.

Please make certain that you follow the directions on assembling your board. You will complete your board at home. The entire project will be completed and your board will be brought to school on: Wednesday, December 18th 2013

If you would like additional information or some ideas, please use the items at www.sciserv.org under students and then "Science Fair Primer" or check out www.sciencebuddies.org.

The Science Fair Handout and all of your information should be in your science folder at school. Do not lose any of the papers.
