Important Missouri Cities: Past and Present
 

 

Missouri has many important cities. Some of the cities are part of the history of the state and some of the cities are more important today. Find the cities on the map, read their history and determine why the city was important in the past, important today and/or important for the future.

Cities of Missouri:
Kansas City
St. Louis
Jefferson City
Columbia
St. Joseph
Hannibal
St. Genevieve
Independence
St. Charles
(The city where your school is located)

1. Label the cities on a blank map of Missouri
2. Label important physical features (Mississippi River, Missouri River, Ozark Mountains, Lake of the Ozarks)
3. Read assigned Missouri city. (Teacher will assign two or three students to each Missouri city)

4. With your partner(s), complete the chart for your city.
5. Present your information to the class.
