This web page has been prepared to give a broad overview of the counselor's work in the elementary school setting. Our program is based on the belief that growth and development during the early school years are the most significant in the child's total education. Counseling in the formative years assists in the development of skills fundamental to everyday interactions with others. The focus of elementary guidance is developmental and preventative. Parents are encouraged to get to know your school counselor as well as your teachers. Your support and cooperation can make your child's school years a rewarding experience.
Don't be impressed with charisma:
look for character. ~Eugene Peterson
A Special Friend
by Marian Woodhead
Sometimes I'm happy
and sometimes sad.
Sometimes I'm scared
and sometimes I'm mad.
When I need a friend to listen,
someone to understand,
a place to go and talk a bit,
the counselor can lend a hand.
We might read a story
or play a game,
watch a film,
or just chat about why I came.
When I need help
it's nice to know
that the counselor's office
is a place to go.
