There are several technical ways to intervene which may help a person with VMI; most of these interventions also apply to persons with dysgraphia.

++++++++++===============++++++++++===============++++++++++==========

Interventions without technology or LOW tech aides:

*** Thick pens and pencils

*** Pencil grips (the good kind which thicken the grip area and/or provide a finger rest)

*** Slantboard (homemade from a large binder using a large rubber band to stabilize the bottom and a large rubber band on the top to hold the paper in place)

++++++++++===============++++++++++===============++++++++++==========

Interventions with technology or HIGH tech aides:

*** Voice-recognition software (recommended: Dragon Naturally Speaking Standard; use most current version)

*** Data processor (on stationary computer, such as MSWord, or an independent mobile unit, such as QuickPAD or AlphaSmart)

*** Large keyboard or alternative keyboard

*** Trackball or other alternative mouse

*** Hand-held or portable scanner

*** Slantboard (the fancy purchased variety)
