There are several technical ways to intervene which may help a person with VMI; most of these interventions also apply to persons with dysgraphia. ++++++++++===============++++++++++===============++++++++++========== Interventions without technology or LOW tech aides: *** Thick pens and pencils *** Pencil grips (the good kind which thicken the grip area and/or provide a finger rest) *** Slantboard (homemade from a large binder using a large rubber band to stabilize the bottom and a large rubber band on the top to hold the paper in place) ++++++++++===============++++++++++===============++++++++++========== Interventions with technology or HIGH tech aides: *** Voice-recognition software (recommended: Dragon Naturally Speaking Standard; use most current version) *** Data processor (on stationary computer, such as MSWord, or an independent mobile unit, such as QuickPAD or AlphaSmart) *** Large keyboard or alternative keyboard *** Trackball or other alternative mouse *** Hand-held or portable scanner *** Slantboard (the fancy purchased variety) |
