Your team of historians has been asked to help create biographies of WWII veterans based on a limited number of historical items. In 1973, the 80% of all US servicemens records for those serving between 1914 and 1960 were destroyed by fire. The deceased Americans family wants to know more about their grandfather. The German items were brought in by a family wishing to know how their ancestors were involved in the war. Each group has been provided with 10-12 items that as historians, you must use to piece together a portrait of an individual. What do we know of the soldiers military biographies? Can we determine any other information about his/her life? Use any and all resources available. You must: 1. Identify each item 2. Research the background of each item, categorizing all information found. 3. Use the items to create a picture of the individuals military life. 4. Speculate as to the individuals life outside the military. Are there any clues? 5. Write an individual biographical sketch of your soldier based on the best information you have and a combination of fact and speculation. |
