2. Monotheistic - belief in one god
3. Polytheistic - belief in more than one god; many gods
4. Conflict - to fight or disagreement
5. Expansion – grow, make larger; enlarged portion
6. Judaism - The religion of the Hebrews; it is the world's oldest monotheistic religion.
7. Torah - Grouping of five holy books which make up the Hebrew Bible.
8. Muhammad – Founder and major prophet of the Islamic faith.
9. Muslim – a person who follows Islam
10. Qur'an – Holy book of Islam
11. Christianity - A major world religion based on the teachings of Jesus.
12. Bible - The holy book of Christianity.
13. Hinduism- the main religion of India, teaches that everything is part of a universal spirit called Brahman
14. Buddhism-religion based on the teachings of the Buddha that developed in India in the 500s BC
15. Abraham-first leader of the Israelites, according to the Bible, he became founder of a new nation in Canaan
16. Jesus-founder of Christianity, believed by Christians to be the Messiah
17. Siddharta Gautama-founder of Buddhism, called the Buddha, born a prince, left his family and wealth to find the cause of human suffering
18. Reincarnation- the belief that the soul, once a person dies, is reborn in a new body
19. Karma-the effects that good or bad actions have on a person’s soul
20. Confucianism- a philosophy based on the ideas of Confucius that focuses on morality, family order, social harmony, and government
