Drawing

Painting
Oil paint’s binder is linseed oil, and its solvent is turpentine or mineral spirits.

Pigment is a finely ground powder that gives every paint its color.
Binder is a liquid that holds together the grains of pigment.
A solvent is a material used to thin or remove a certain type of paint.
Glazing or sfumato is a technique of applying paint in thin, transparent layers.
Divisionism is a painting technique that requires the artist use dots of paint to create images instead of brush strokes.
Impasto is a technique of applying paint in thick, opaque layers.
A palette is a plate or tray for mixing paint.
Vinegar removes tempera paint from fabric.
As you begin painting a landscape, it is important that the foreground is painted first.
As you paint a landscape, it is important that the middle ground is painted before the foreground.
As you paint a landscape, it is important that the background is painted last.
Aerial Perspective is used to make paintings seem more realistic. An artist could demonstrate aerial perspective by drawing objects in the distance smaller, blurry, and less intense.
Linear Perspective is used to draw objects and make them appear realistic. An artist would use lines that would radiate to one or more vanishing points to create accurate recreations of geometrically-shaped objects.
