KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

I have included a list of books below that you may find useful if you are working with students with autism. I have listed them in priority. The one I highly recommend is the book by Dr. Bryna Siegel called Helping Children with Autism Learn. If you are interested in learning about the best communication approaches, then I would especially recommend that you read Chapter 6 on communication. (This is a much better read than her previous book The World of the Autistic Child.)

1) HELPING CHILDREN WITH AUTISM LEARN by Dr. Bryna Siegel. Published by Oxford University Press, 2003.

2) THINKING IN PICTURES by Dr. Temple Grandin. Published by Vintage Books, 2006.

3) TEN THINGS YOUR STUDENT WITH AUTISM WISHES YOU KNEW by Ellen Notbohm. Published by Future Horizons, 2006.

4) THE WORLD OF THE AUTISTIC CHILD by Dr. Bryna Siegel. Published by Oxford University Press, 1996.

5) THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME a novel by Mark Haddon. Published by Vintage Books, 2003.

AUTISM LECTURE.

Please check out the following YouTube video link below. This was a talk on autism that Dr. Temple Grandin gave at the UC Davis MIND Institute. It's quite compelling. (The link is also provided on the right side of the page.)
