GRAMMAR WARS PROJECT
I can identify parts of speech and how they influence sentence structure.

Names of group members:______________________________________________
Part of speech:__________________________________ Due date:_____________

Each group will be assigned a part of speech as well as specific information about this part of speech assigned from the grammar book to teach to the class. The group must pick as many projects (listed below) as there are members in their group. No choice may be repeated within the group. Each person in the group must first individually write out a minimum of three sentences and three examples for each concept presented on the page information. All of that information will be put into the project.

The page information is difficult to understand because it only has one or two sentences explaining each specific concept about that part of speech. It is your job to teach this page information. In order to demonstrate understanding, you will need to completely use your own words and expand on each of the areas from your assigned page information. IN YOUR OWN WORDS DOES NOT MEAN YOU SIMPLY CHANGE A FEW WORDS OR ALTER THE SENTENCE STRUCTURE. The minimum of three sentences explaining each concept and minimum of three examples for each must be incorporated into the project you chose. If you are working as a team, make sure that you use everyone’s individual interpretation of the page information in different projects. For example: in a group of three, one person decided to work on the poster alone. That person takes their page information, examples, and the definition of the part of speech that I gave the class and puts it on a poster. The other two decided to do a dance and a song together. They take one person’s notes and use it for the song and they take the other person’s notes to use for the dance.

Create a worksheet that teaches your part of speech including its definition and the assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each). The worksheet must be approved by the teacher in advance and must creatively test the students’ knowledge.

Create a poster or a mobile that provides a definition for the part of speech, examples, and assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each).

Compare AND contrast the part of speech and assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each) to ALL the other parts of speech (noun, verb, pronoun, adverb, adjective, interjection, conjunction, and preposition).

Create a skit that personifies the part of speech, definition and assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each).

Create a PowerPoint teaching the part of speech, definition, and assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each) for a group of young children.

Create a dance that represents the part of speech, definition and assigned page information. in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each). Be sure to describe the representations after the dance.

Create a television ad for the part of speech, definition and assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each).

Create a skit that demonstrates how we use this part of speech, definition and assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each) personally and where we would be without it.

Create a song that includes the definition of the part of speech, definition, examples, and the assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each) from the grammar book.

Create a myth about how the part of speech, including the definition, and the assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each) came to be.

Create a 3 to 4 minute game that teaches the definition, and the assigned page information in your own words (3 sentences for each) with your own examples (3 for each) to the class.
