HOLIDAY TRADITIONS PROJECT NAME_____________________________COUNTRY________________ RESEARCH ESSAY REQUIREMENTS (100 point group grade/20 point Bibliography group grade) PROMPT: Construct a piece of writing that identifies the major events, traditions, and celebrations relating to your country of research and the Christmas/Holiday season. EACH person must show proof of correctly formatted notes from research that include source information _____ 5 paragraph essay format following essay rubric guidelines _____ Correctly formatted works cited page/bibliography that includes at least four sources _____ POSTER REQUIREMENTS SIDE 1: (20 point group grade) Side one of your poster is dedicated to your country of research _____ Include the name of your country in large, bold, letters _____ Include 8 or more visuals that represent the topics discussed in your research essay _____ Include a recipe for a food/dish you want to bring that is traditional in your country of research_____ Include anything else (decorations, other visuals, etc.) you believe is relevant or may enhance the visual appeal of your poster _____ POSTER REQUIREMENTS SIDE 2: (50 point individual grade) FAMILY TRADITIONS Divide side 2 of the poster in half to represent each person’s family _____ Each of you will construct an 8 sentence minimum compare and contrast paragraph that discusses the major similarities and differences between your family Christmas traditions and that of your country of research (20 pts) _____ Each of you will also construct an 8 sentence minimum descriptive paragraph which details either what Christmas means to you or the traditions of your family (20 pts) _____ Paragraphs must be clear and well organized _____ Paragraphs are focused, detailed, creative in word choice, fluent, and include facts, opinions, and explanations _____ Paragraphs are posted on side 2 of the poster in your sections _____ Family interview is completed with detailed answers and complete sentences. (10 pts) _____ PRESENTATION: (10 point individual grade) Presenter is ready on day of presentation and has clearly reviewed main points prior to presenting Presenter makes frequent eye contact with audience Presenter speaks in a clear and audible voice and does not have to read everything from the poster but instead verbalizes main points Presentation is about 5 minutes in length My Project is due on DECEMBER ____________ Food day is on DECEMBER __________ |
