GOAL: The mission of Physical Education in the Archdiocese of Omaha is to provide all students with opportunities to gain knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes which encourage life-long participation in healthy physical activity. The program is designed to assist students in their responsibility to develop to full potential their God given talents. Sixth, Seventh & Eighth grade students will: Participate in a variety of lead-up games related to team sports and tournament play Receive continued skill instruction related to individual and team sports Be introduced to advanced games, strategies and techniques Recognize and demonstrate safety skills with respect to self and others Demonstrate social skills and habits with respect to others Identify lifelong fitness activities Demonstrate sport skills in different sports areas Participate in the mile run test twice a year Parents may assist their children by: Encouraging participation in sports Exercising with them Modeling and encouraging fair play and sportsmanship Making sure they “dress out” for P.E. class Assessment will include teacher observations on manipulative skills, team sports and activities. Students will also be tested on the mile run twice a year. |
