Physical Education (6-8)

Mission statement:
The mission of Physical Education in the Archdiocese of Omaha is to provide all students with opportunities to gain knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes which encourage life-long participation in healthy physical activity. The program is designed to assist students in their responsibility to develop to full potential their God given talents.

Skills
Physical Education at SSM will focus on Balancing , Chasing, Fleeing, dodging , jumping, landing, kicking, striking with an object, throwing, catching, traveling/movement, and volleying,

Grading
Grades 6th through 8th will be given a letter grade. Their grade will be based on a percentage of points accumulated during class. Students will be accountable for rules, guidelines, and activities introduced during class.

Make –up work
Students in grades 5th through 8th grade will be responsible for making up work missed during an absence. Students will contact the teacher to determine an appropriate make –up assignment for the missed class.

Health (6th-8)
There will be approximately 8-10 health classes throughout the year.
The scope of the program is to discuss pertinent issues that are prevalent to maintaining a healthy life style.
