DIRECTIONS: As we close our study of Local, State, and National Government, we will be beginning a unit on "Life in Communities." Communities are places where peope live, work, and play together. There are many different kinds of communities in the United States. This online unit will allow you to learn the different types of communities and what make them special. While working through this unit, you will be able to click on the links on the right, and explore fun, educational activities, worksheets, and quizzes throughout our study of communities. Below is a brief explanation of the most important links. Be sure to check the "Communities Calendar" link EVERYDAY for assignments. Good luck!!! Calendar - this link is a weekly guide that shows you what we will learn and do everyday in our study of communities. Assignments and due dates will also be posted here. TrackStar - this is a list of internet websites to explore and educational games to play throughout the unit. Record your answers to the questions on each TrackStar website in your Social Studies journal. Worksheets #1 and #2 - each worksheet has questions from Lesson 1 and 2. You will use the links on the right to answer the questions. You will also see a link back to the Communities UOW (homepage). Quia Activties/Quizzes - these are fun activities, and quizzes to complete throughout the unit. Be sure to check the Communities calendar for due dates. PersuadeStar - this link will lead you to PersuadeStar. You will need to register at the website using your first initial and last name. Your password will be the first two letters of your first name and your last name (all lowercase). The assignment code is 3ZEP8P8. Refer to the card I gave you. After logging in, follow the links to an assignment called "Move to Stanton!" You will be asked to write an essay persuading a family member or friend to move to Stanton.
